These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Taper, a swim workout logging app ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account, downloading, or using Taper (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Taper. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
To use the Service, you must create an account by signing in with Apple. You are responsible for safeguarding the credentials of the third-party identity provider you use to sign in and for all activity under your Taper account. Notify us immediately at admin@taper.fit if you suspect unauthorized access.
You may only create one account per person, and you may not share your account or transfer it to anyone else.
Taper requires an active "Taper Pro" subscription to access the app's features. Subscriptions are offered as monthly or yearly auto-renewing plans, with prices displayed in the App Store and within the app.
If we offer a free trial, the length and terms are disclosed before you subscribe. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription and you will be charged the price shown.
Taper subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) unless you cancel auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time:
Canceling a free trial before it ends prevents any charge. Canceling a paid subscription stops future renewals but does not refund the current period — you keep access until the period ends.
All payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled exclusively by Apple per Apple's published refund policy. We have no ability to issue refunds directly. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
We may change subscription prices from time to time. Any change will be communicated in advance and will only take effect at your next renewal. If you do not agree to the new price, cancel before the next renewal.
Taper uses artificial intelligence services (currently provided by OpenAI) to analyze whiteboard photos and extract structured workout data such as sets, distances, and intervals. By using the capture feature, you understand and agree that:

We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these rules.
You retain ownership of the workout data you create or capture using the Service ("Your Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
We do not sell your personal workout data to third parties. We may use aggregated or anonymized data to improve Taper and develop new features.
The Service, including the app's name, logo, design, code, and any text or graphics provided by us (excluding Your Content), is owned by us and our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. These Terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Your privacy matters. Our collection and use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account inside the app. Deletion permanently removes your account, your saved workouts, and your sign-in credential from our systems. Backups may retain residual copies for up to 30 days before permanent erasure.
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Apple subscriptions are billed at the App Store independently of your Taper account. Cancel your subscription via Settings → Manage Subscription before deleting your account, or via Apple's subscription management afterward.
We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will provide reasonable advance notice for material changes that adversely affect paying users.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY.
Taper is a fitness logging tool, not a medical device. It does not provide medical advice. Consult a qualified professional for advice about your training, health, or fitness.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE OR OUR AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, OR USE, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50.00).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in such cases, the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Taper and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any third-party right.
You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if your use of the Service exposes us or other users to risk or liability. Upon termination, sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution) will continue to apply.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notice and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree that any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you submit to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content. In the event of any failure of the Service to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the Service to you (if applicable). Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance and support for the Service. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and has the right to enforce them.
